Mark Gannon of Courtmacsherry tells us that the fishing has been wonderful off Courtmacsherry the previous couple of weeks with good numbers of blue sharks, loads of ling on the wrecks to close specimen weight, nice sport on pollack and poalfish with mild deal with, congers on the reefs to 30lbs. Even nearer inshore the Self Drives are getting caught in with thornback ray, dabs, loads of pollack and good sized Bass.
Belgian anglers had been out with Mark final week. They’re common guests to Courtmacsherry and focused Widespread skate for 2 of the constitution days. In all they boated 26 Widespread Skate, one close to specimen and 14 of them Irish Specimens. The heaviest over the 2 days was 2.09 metres complete size, with one other 4 over the two metre mark. Additionally caught had been Blond Ray to close specimen weight, thornback ray, and loads of bullhuss.
A unique group had been out for a night session after the Belgian anglers returned house and for 2 hours fishing one other 6 Widespread Skate had been landed. Two of the fish had been recorded as Irish Specimens.
The next day a constitution group from Bantry accompanied by Dr Dani Orrell, a marine biologist who’s conducting analysis referred to as the Cetus undertaking, boated 9 Widespread Skate and Dr Dani tagged them with satellite tv for pc tags.
In throughout an area of three weeks the Girl Louise skippered by Sean Maxwell has tagged an astonishing 49 Widespread Skate, recording 22 Irish Specimens and an unbelievable 7 recaptures.
