MANDAUE CITY, Philippines —Over 100 law enforcement officials have been deployed by the Mandaue Metropolis Police Workplace (MCPO) to safe the Fee on Elections in Mandaue Metropolis (Comelec-Mandaue) and to make sure the security of those that want to file their Certificates of Candidacy (COC).
MCPO Spokesperson, Police Lieutenant Colonel Mercy Villaro, stated that apart from the 45 law enforcement officials stationed within the neighborhood of the Comelec workplace, further officers have been deployed on the streets for patrols, conducting checkpoints, and a few are stationed on the headquarters as backup in case of emergencies.
Villaro acknowledged that though Mandaue Metropolis stays peaceable, they’re at the moment on heightened alert.
“Though, anticipated na nato for Mandaue Metropolis nga permanente ra man gyud ni siya ingun ani (peaceable) throughout sa submitting from first day to the final day, ang Mandaue Metropolis Police Workplace nihatag gihapon og most deployment of personnel, dili lang ta mokumpiyansa,” stated Villaro.
Villaro talked about that they could deploy extra personnel within the coming days as extra aspirants file their COCs.
In the meantime, Villaro stated they’re prepared to supply safety to potential candidates who request it, particularly those that obtain threats.
Villaro defined {that a} police officer could accompany an aspirant throughout the submitting of their candidacy.

As of Tuesday morning, no aspirants had filed their COCs in Mandaue Metropolis. Comelec expects aspirants to file their COCs in direction of the tip of the submitting interval on October 8.
