Report from January 2, 2024
On New 12 months’s Eve 2024, I went for the longest run of my life.
- 10K for the Ladies’s Sports activities Basis.
On New 12 months’s Day, I went for the longest drive of my life.
- 927-miles
- 13.5 hours
- Park Metropolis, UT, to Golden, BC
At present, I went snowboarding at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort in British Columbia.
This place is epic.
I spent the season right here again within the large snow 12 months of 2018.
I adore it right here…
A 4,000-vertical-foot gondola and an alpine chairlift.
I cranked just a few laps inbounds and met some cool locals: Matt, Avery, and Jack.
The snow was delicate, chalky, and enjoyable.
The sunshine was flat so staying close to timber was important.
After just a few inbounds laps I bounced out into the sidecountry.
I climbed as much as the highest of Ozone and dissolved into the mist.
The primary extensive chute I discovered was nicely skied, delicate, and thrilling.
From there I skinned as much as one other lengthy, skinny couloir.
The sunshine & snow have been powerful in prime part however the backside was powdery and candy.
I spilled into an vacant valley with curled up lips.
This place is a dream.
I yearned to be again on that ridge as I watched chute after attractive chute fly by on my glide down valley.
I floor my method up a brand new zone for lap 3.
I bushwhacked to a “double secret tree zone” I learn about.
The snowpack wasn’t fairly there for this tour so I pressured it a bit.
The powder snowboarding within the timber was splendiferous.
The ski out was an 8 outta 10 on the “bushwhack-o-meter.”
I escaped from the dense forest pleased & exhausted.
Yet one more spectacular day at Kicking Horse, BC.
Tomorrow we experience a helicopter to a distant backcountry hut for every week of faceshots 🙂
