AMS Denali Expedition Updates – June 4

DWB #3 (Might 16) — Led by Cody Pitz and Ben Olwell arrived again in sunny Talkeetna this afternoon! After shortly separating out gear, airing out tents, and grabbing a chew of watermelon, they headed out to eat among the native truthful right here on the town—halibut burgers included! They plan on resting up and filling their stomachs once more with a well-earned post-Denali dinner this night. 

A video from base camp this morning reveals a lenticular cloud shifting over Denali’s summit. 

Russell, David, Noah, Robert and Information Ben. Cody was having a shower and missed the picture op. There will probably be extra from dinner tonight.

DWB #4 (Might 20)—Nate Emerson and Claire Bicknell, led by Nate Emerson, are taking one other relaxation day at excessive camp as we speak attributable to windy climate circumstances on Denali’s summit. Whereas it’s largely sunny in Talkeetna and the vary, there’s a huge lenticular cloud on high of Denali as we speak. These clouds point out very excessive winds. Nate and Claire have reported that the group is properly and having fun with some tent time as we speak!

DWB #5 (Might 23) — Led by Simon Frez-Albrecht, Dylan Van Rozeboom, and John Goeckermann are feeling good and taking a relaxation day at 17,200 ft after shifting to excessive camp from 14,200 ft yesterday. They’ve reunited with our DWB Workforce #4 and hunkering down as they relaxation and wait out the winds above them!

DWB #6 (Might 27) — Led by Nickel Wooden, Travis Powell, and Evan Clupper moved to the 14,200 ft camp as we speak after carrying to Windy Nook yesterday. The climate is trying nice at 14,200 ft as we speak, which implies they need to don’t have any bother establishing camp. They plan to relaxation in a single day and tomorrow earlier than shifting increased on the mountain.

DWB #7 (June 2)  Led by Larry Holmgren and Matt Schiffner headed into base camp early this morning after a delay attributable to climate yesterday! This can be a very robust group and they’re wanting to get on the transfer. They departed base camp this morning and are shifting in direction of Ski Hill as we speak!

DWB #8 (June 3)  Led by Michelle Leonard, Roberta Schoultz, and Nadine Lehner headed into base camp this afternoon after a day of mounted line ascension, ultimate gear examine after which feasting on quiche, hummus, and a tapas number of meals! 

They’ve landed on the Kahiltna glacier and are settling in for the evening with some pizzas they introduced in from Talkeetna. Tomorrow they’ll start shifting up the mountain!
